After losing his opening game at the Boost National, a Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event, Tuesday, Brad Gushue and his team from St. John’s responded with a statement win Wednesday night.
Gushue, Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant and Geoff Walker thumped Ross Paterson’s team from Scotland 8-1 in six ends at the C.B.S. Arena.
The win improves Gushue to 1-1 entering tonight’s game (8:30 p.m.) against Peter de Cruze of Switzerland.
After scoring two in the first end, Gushue stole one in the third and three points in the fourth for a 6-0 lead in a game that was effectively over.
In the bonspiel opener Tuesday, Gushue lost 8-6 to Yannick Schwaller of Switzerland.
