Ontario will be the next stop in Jordan King’s hockey career.
All he needs to determine now is the exact location.
King, a product of the Corner Brook minor hockey system who starred for the Amherst Ramblers of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League for the past four years, wants to pursue a kinesiology degree while playing university hockey so he has narrowed down his search to Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and the University of Ottawa.

King is only in preliminary talks with the University of Ottawa, so time will tell what transpires with that organization, but he’s heading to Lakehead University next week to check out the sights and sounds of a city he’s never visited before to see if the university is what he’s looking for in the next chapter of his life.
“Whatever has the most home feeling. I won’t know until I go,” King said Wednesday when asked what will be the determining factor in his decision.
He’s excited about meeting the people in the community and the people who will be involved with the hockey program.
He is working with Marble Zip for the summer and working out at the gym to ensure he’s in good shape for his debut in university hockey.
He moved away from the friendly confines of Corner Brook at the age of 17 to play in the Maritime Junior A league that featured older and bigger players.
He adjusted nicely with time and finished his junior hockey career as the captain of the Ramblers with his knack around the net a big reason why his team racked up a lot of wins during his tenure with the team.
He believes he’s ready for the jump to university hockey where he will be facing bigger and older players once again.
“Where I left home so young I matured over the years and I think that will help me going forward,” he said.
Skilled forwards who can fill the net are always welcomed at any level of hockey so he’s confident he will find his way at the university level.
A summer of hard work is all he can do to prepare for the next challenge. It’s no big deal for him because it’s been a routine ever since he became serious about taking his game to the highest level he could.
