The Remax Centre/St. John's Curling Club is playing host to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women's curling championship that's currently under way.

Winner will represent the province at nationals in Penticton, B.C.

Stacie Curtis, the two-time defending provincial champion, is 3-0, while Heather Strong carries a 2-0 record into Thursday’s fourth draw at the provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts ongoing at the Remax Centre/St. John’s Curling Club.

The winner of the event represents the province at the national women’s championship Jan. 27-Feb. 4 in Penticton, B.C.

Seven teams are curling in this year’s provincial Scotties, all of them from the Remax Centre. That’s a big improvement from even a few years ago when as few as three teams were vying for the provincial women’s championship.

Mackenzie Glynn is 2-1, while Kelli Sharpe and Beth Hamilton are 1-1. Cindy Miller and Rebecca Roberts are both winless in three starts.

A champion will be decided Saturday. Tie-breakers, if necessary, go 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with the semifinal slated for 2:30 p.m. The final is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

If a team needs to beaten twice, a second final will go at 1 p.m. Sunday.
