Edwards brothers combine to lift Holy Cross

Brothers Philip and David Edwards combined to give Holy Cross a 6-1 win over OMT Shamrocks Wednesday night at St. Pat’s Ball Park, and a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven St. John’s Molson Intermediate Baseball League final.

Philip Edwards pitched a complete-game gem, scattering three hits and four walks over seven innings. He fanned four. David Edwards, meanwhile, was two-for-three at the plate with a walk.

Josh Fifield, the first of three Shamrocks pitchers, took the loss. Dylan McKenzie and Bernie Morgan also pitched.

John Cribb doubled, had two walks and knocked in two runs for Holy Cross. Teammate Ryan Walsh also had two free passes with two RBIs.

Game 4 is 6 p.m. this evening at St. Pat’s, with Game 5 3:30 p.m. Saturday. If Game 6 is needed, it will go 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
