Feildians Greensleeves will face C.B.S. Kirby United at King George V Park Thursday in what stands as the semifinal game of the 2018 Breen’s Jubilee Trophy soccer championship tournament.
Third-seeded Feildians blanked fourth-ranked Mount Pearl 3-0 Monday night at KGV to move up a rung in the stepladder event.
Jill Lahey had two goals, including one on a penalty shot, for Feildians, while Morgan Fitzgerald also scored. Leslie Bradshaw recorded the shutout.
The winner of Thursday’s game will take on defending champion Holy Cross Avalon Ford in the league final, scheduled for Saturday and also at KGV.
Holy Cross finished in first place in the regular season with 15 wins in as many games.
Kirby won two of three meetings against Feildians this season, outscoring the Double Blues 5-2 in the process, but Feildians were the victors in their last meeting.
