The Alouettes re-signed defensive-end Gabriel Knapton and inked cornerback Marcus Cromartie to a new contract on Thursday.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Knapton has played the majority of his 81-game CFL career with the Alouettes. He signed with the B.C. Lions to start the 2018 season, but was traded back to Montreal after 8 games out west.
For his career, the 29-year-old native of Mead, Col., has 203 tackles, 36 sacks, has forced two fumbles and recovered one. In 2014, he was voted the Alouettes’ most outstanding rookie.
The 6-foot, 195-pound Cromartie has played 22 NFL games with the San Francisco Giants and Houston Texans. He has also bounced around on the practice rosters of San Diego, Cleveland, Buffalo, Seattle and Detroit.
The 28-year-old, a native of New Orleans, will be playing in the CFL for the first time.
In other news Thursday, Montreal added import wide-receiver Gary McKnight Jr. and released non-import defensive-end Jabar Westerman and import cornerback Najee Murray.
