A pair of teams from the Re/Max Centre (St. John’s Curling Club) will represent the province in the New Holland Canadian junior men’s and women’s curling championships which open Saturday in Prince Albert, Sask.

The men’s team is skipped by Greg Blyde and includes vice skip Daniel Bruce, Ryan McNeil Lamswood and Nathan King. Dennis Bruce is the coach.

Mackenzie Glynn is skipping the women’s foursome, which also includes Katie Follett, Sarah Chaytor, Camille Burt and coach Dave Trickett.

The winners will represent Canada in the world junior championship Feb. 16-23 in Liverpool, N.S.

Bruce skipped last year’s provincial men’s team to a 4-6 record at the junior nationals in Shawinigan, Que. In 2017, Blyde skipped the provincial entry which went 6-4 in Victoria, B.C.
Each member of the Glynn team curled at the women’s junior nationals last year in Shawinigan, going 5-5.

The Glynn team is just coming off a 1-4 showing at the Scotties Tournament of Heart provincial women’s championship last weekend in St. John’s.

Both rinks are curling Saturday, with the men taking on Alberta, while the women are slated to play P.E.I.

The men’s and women’s semifinals go next Saturday, Jan. 26, with the final set for Sunday.
