(Reuters) - Thailand's Jasmine Suwannapura and American Cydney Clanton teamed up for an emphatic six-stroke win at the Great Lakes Bay Invitational in Midland, Michigan on Saturday.

They combined for a closing 11-under-par 59 in the four ball (better ball) format at Midland Country Club.

It is a second LPGA Tour victory for Suwannapura, and a first for Clanton, who had never finished better than seventh in an LPGA event.

They finished at 27-under 253, while South Korean Ko Jin-young and Australian Minjee Lee rattled home with 12 birdies for a 12-under 58 and claimed second place.

The teams event used a format of two rounds of alternate-shot foursomes and two of four-ball.

Suwannapura's career was in doubt when she incurred a serious back injury in 2016, and she was out for six months after spinal surgery that proved successful.

She notched her maiden LPGA victory in 2018 and with her latest triumph becomes only the second Thai player with multiple wins, after Ariya Jutanugarn (10).
