The Holy Heart Highlanders are establishing themselves as a bit of a basketball powerhouse in the early goings of the 2018-19 high school basketball season.
The Highlanders senior A squad, the reigning provincial 4A champions, won the Mount Pearl Wendy’s/Stantec/Elevate Tournament last weekend, and it was the Junior Varsity squad from Holy Heart that they beat in the final.
The JV team upset No. 2-ranked O’Donel Patriots A squad in the quarter-final, and then got past Corner Brook High’s A team in the semifinal, setting up an all-Holy Heart final. Devon Tobin from the A squad, and JV’s Jacob Reid were named tournament MVPs.
