The Holy Heart Highlanders capped off an impressive 2018-19 high school boys’ basketball campaign with a second straight provincial 4A championship Sunday, beating the Gonzaga Vikings 91-59 in the tournament final at Mobile Central High.
It was the second straight 4A high school crown for the Highlanders.
Caleb d’Entremont paced the Highlanders with 33 points in the final game.
The final marked the end of their high school careers for Holy Heart’s d’Entremont, Devon Tobin, Dafydd Banfield, Nick Meaney and Michael Burt. All five won Grade 10 and 11 provincial championships, along with the past two 4A tournaments as Highlanders.
Holy Heart finishes the year with a 39-1 record. The only fly in the ointment was a loss to the Vikings, and that came in the Gonzaga Invitational event.
In addition to the 4A championship, Holy Heart also won the Hall of Fame Cup, Sweet 16, Mount Pearl Senior High, Keith Keating Memorial, Waterford Valley Legend City Classic and Holy Heart Elevate Classic tournaments.
In semifinal play in Mobile, Holy Heart thumped Mount Pearl Senior High Huskies 90-51, and Gonzaga got by Holy Spirit Falcons 95-87.

3A — St. Kevin’s Mavericks beating Holy Trinity Tigers 83-80 at Stephenville High
2A — Templeton Academy of Meadows beating St. Bon’s 62-47 at Roncalli Central High in Avondale
