Hitmen, Dodgers take 2-0 softball semifinal series leads

NTV Hitmen and 3 Cheers Pub Bud Light Dodgers both grabbed 2-0 leads in their St. John’s Molson Senior Men’s Softball League best-of-five semifinals Tuesday night.

At Lions Park, the Hitmen made short work of The Bigs with an 11-2, five-inning victory.

Robbie Greene (5IP, 2R, 3H, 6BB, 10K) won over Donny King (5IP, 11R, 14H, 4BB, 5K).

Chris Murphy led the winners with three hits. Fergus Griffiths, Ryan Boland, Mark Stack and Danny Mullins each had a pair.

In the other game, the Dodgers doubled the Kelly’s Pub Molson Bulldogs 6-3. Colin Walsh (7IP, 3R, 7H, 2BB, 8K) registered the win over Sean Cleary (6IP, 6R, 9H, 3BB, 8K).

Phillip Corbett had two hits and knocked in two runs for the Dodgers, and Jason Hill also had two hits, including a solo home run.

The Dodgers scored five runs in the third inning.

Semifinal play resumes 6 p.m. Thursday when The Bigs take on the Hitmen followed by the Bulldogs and Dodgers at 8.
