AUS Women’s hockey title for Blanche and Huskies

Dunville’s Nicole Blanche became an Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey champion Tuesday night, scoring what would turn out to be the winning goal in the Saint Mary’s Huskies’ 5-1 win over the St. Thomas Tommies in Game 3 of the best-of-three final.

The third-year forward finished the AUS playoffs with a goal and two helpers in six games, while posting plus-1 rating.

The Huskies, top seed heading into the post-season, won the series opener 3-2 last Friday and dropped Game 2 4-1 on Sunday.

Both teams now advance to the 2016 CIS Women's Hockey Championship hosted by the University of Calgary at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary, Alta., Mar. 17-20.
