Breakers closer to taking St. John's junior hockey league crown

The Southern Shore C&W Offshore Breakers are a win away from taking the 2016-17 St. John’s Junior Hockey League championship.

Liam Hynes scored twice as the Breakers downed the Avalon Roebothom McKay Marshall Capitals 5-2 Wednesday night in Goulds to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Donavon Warren, Shayne Kavanagh and Matthew Templeman also scored for Southern Shore, while Ben Cleary and Andrew Paul replied for Avalon iin a game that featured plenty of shots — the Breakers outshot the Capitals 50-48.

Game 5 is Friday night at the Southern Shore Arena in Mobile. Game 6, if necessary, is Saturday at the Goulds Arena and a Game 7 would gop Sunday in Mobile.
