It looks like Cody Donaghey could be making his professional debut in the ECHL after all.
The 21-year-old defenceman has been returned to the ECHL’s Brampton Beast by the American Hockey League’s Belleville Senators after spending three days with the AHL Sens but not appearing in any games for the team. Donaghey got bumped when the parent Ottawa Senators returned top prospect rearguard Thomas Chabot to Belleville
Donaghey had been assigned to Brampton in late September, but was promoted to Belleville on Thursday, two days before the Beast’s 2017-18 season-opener. Brampton plays against the Manchester Monarchs at home tonight.
Donaghey is in the first year of his three-year NHL entry-level contract with Ottawa. He spent the last five seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
