Until two years ago, hockey’s national governing body conducted an annual general meeting, but beginning in 2015, went to a two meetings-per-year system, with spring and fall/winter sessions where delegates from across Canada meet, formulate policy, implement rule revisions, discuss initiatives and hand out awards.
The last time a Hockey Canada general meeting was held in St. John’s was 2006, with gatherings also held here in 1994, 1982 and 1970.
Hockey Canada president and CEO Tom Renney and chief operating officer Scott Smith will host a media round-table Wednesday. The congress itself begins Thursday and finishes Sunday.
