The Calgary Flames continued to add to their depth, inking Justin Kirkland to a one-year, two way contract on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old forward scored nine goals and 21 assists in 75 games last season for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Drafted in the third round (62nd overall) by the Nashville Predators in 2014, Kirkland played for the Kelowna Rockets and captured the WHL Championship in 2015.
A native of Camorse, Alta., and a left-handed shot, Kirkland’s salary is a $700,000 cap hit for the Flames.
Other Flames news on Tuesday: journeyman defenceman Dalton Prout inked a one-year deal with the San Jose Sharks worth $800,000. The 29-year-old dressing room favourite played 20 games for the Flames last season and four at the AHL level.
