The Newfoundland Growlers scored three second-period goals, and Eamonn McAdam stopped 39 shots in a 3-0 shutout win over the Brampton Beast Tuesday night at Mile One Centre.

It was a strong bounce-back win for the Growlers, who dropped an ugly 5-1 decision to the Worcester Railers Saturday night.

Tuesday’s win improves the Growlers to 30-13-2-0 on the year, fourth overall in the ECHL. Newfoundland sits in second place in the Eastern Conference and occupies top spot in the North Division.

Brady Ferguson opened scoring at 1:11 of the second period, with what would turn out to be the game-winner.

Scott Pooley staked the Growlers to a 2-0 lead with his team-leading 20th goal on the season. Matt Bradley and Zach O’Brien drew assists on both goals. For O’Brien, it was the seventh helper in the last 10 games, to go along with four goals. The St. John’s native has 17 goals and 23 assists in 33 games.

Hudson Elynuik potted an insurance marker, his eighth, 55 seconds following the Pooley goal.

The Growlers and Beast go at it again Wednesday night at Mile One. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
