It will be an all-Mount Pearl affair for the Metro High School Hockey League championship which opens 7:30 Tuesday night at the Goulds Arena.

The Mount Pearl Senior High Huskies received three goals from Nathan Kelly and two goals and a pair of assists from Nick Gosse to beat the St. Kevin’s Mavericks in the deciding game of their best-of-three semifinal Monday night.

The Huskies will meet the O’Donel Patriots, who upset the Queen Elizabeth Pioneers in their semifinal, for the league championship.

Jesse Putt ruined Sean Hurley’s shutout bid with 51 seconds left in regulation time.

Meanwhile, the Holy Heart Highlanders downed the Holy Trinity Tigers 3-1 Monday night to book a spot in the St. John’s High School Hockey League final against the Gonzaga Vikings, who swept their semifinal series against the Waterford Valley Warriors.

Blake Mercer had a goal and an assist for the Highlanders, while Landon Young and Noah Rowe added singles. Johnny Woodfine replied.

The St. John’s final opens 8 p.m. Friday at Twin Rinks.
