RED HARBOUR, N.L. — Kathy Senior of Red Harbour is looking forward to taking the ice as a member of Team NL’s women’s hockey team for the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.

“I’ve been on Team NL for the past three years,” Kathy told The Southern Gazette on Friday, Feb. 15. “We’ve always gone to the Atlantics, but this year is Canada Winter Games year so we get to compete against all the provinces in Canada this year.”

She added that it is an exciting experience to once again be picked to represent the province as a member of Team NL.

Senior plays locally with the Marystown Mariners U-20 Female team and is also a member of the Triple AAA Tri-Pen Ice.

The 5’8” centre said she is looking forward to the caliber of play she will encounter at the games.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the competition (from) the other provinces, the other players and skill levels.”

Senior said that she does not have any expectations going into the games.

“…just go out and play the best that I can play and that will get me as far as I can go,” she said.

The 2019 Canada Winter Games take place Feb. 15-March 3.
