Liam Hickey’s scoring streak and Team Canada’s shutout streak were extended Thursday as they booked a spot in the gold-medal game in para (sledge) hockey at the 2018 Paralympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.
Hickey, a 19-year-old from St. John’s, had the official game-winner as he opened the scoring in a 7-0 win over the host Koreans in semifinal play.
Hickey, who turns 20 in a week and a half, has scored in every game and has six goals and four assists through Canada’s four games in the Paralympic tourney.
Canada has outscored the opposition 42-0 in those games.
The Canadians are ranked No. 2 in the world behind defending the Paralympic champion Americans, who defeated Italy in the other semifinal.

The gold-medal game being Canada and the U.S, will be played 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning (NT).
Thursday's crowd for the Canada-Korea game at Gangneung Ice Arena included South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook. It rivalled that of the Olympic women's final. Ear-splitting screams erupted with every Korean pass or shot near the Canadian net. The fans danced and sang along to K-pop hits during timeouts.
