The Newfoundland Growlers will be without their fourth-leading scorer for the next four games as rookie Brady Ferguson has been suspended by the ECHL.

Ferguson, who has 15 goals and 32 points in 28 games, was also fined an undisclosed amount after picking up a match penalty in the Growlers’ last game, a 5-1 win over the Railers in Worcester, Mass. last Saturday night.

Ferguson was assessed the match following a hit to the head.

He will miss the Growlers’ two remaining road games tonight and Sunday in Brampton, Ont., and a pair of home games against the Railers next Friday and Saturday.

Coming off the ECHL’s all-star break, the Growlers are 27-11-2-0 and third overall in the 27-team league.

Newfoundland has won seven of its last eight games.

Tonight’s game against the Beast marks John Snowden’s first game as the Growlers’ official head coach following Ryane Clowe’s resignation.
