Team captain Jeremy Nicholas scored twice, including the game-winner early in the third period, as the Southern Shore Puglisevich Breakers downed the Clarenville Ford Caribous 4-2 Wednesday night in Mobile to take a 2-0 lead in their Newfoundland senior hockey Eastern Division Final,

Game 3 of the best-of-seven series is Friday night at the Eastlink Events Centre in Clarenville.

The winner of the series will face the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts in the Herder Memorial Trophy provincial final.

The Caribous are defending Herder champions.

At the Southern Shore Arena Wednesday, Clarenville owned a 2-1 lead in the second period courtesy of a pair of Kevin Reid goals, but Blake Dalton tied it for the home side in the last minute of the middle frame, giving the Breakers momentum that carried over to the start of the third when Nicholas scored just 40 seconds into the period. He later added an empty-netter.

Brandon Baird had the other goal for the Breakers, who won Sunday's opening game of the series by the same 4-2 score.
