Alex Newhook of St. John’s is on fire in the junior A British Columbia Hockey League.
Newhook, who won’t turn 17 until Jan. 28, was on a 10-game point-scoring streak dating back to before Christmas entering a game Friday night against Alberni Valley. During that time, he had 26 points.
As a result, Newhook has climbed into a second-place tie in the BCHL scoring race, with 18 goals and 32 assists for 50 points in 35 games.
The leader, Jasper Weatherby of the Wenatchee Wild, has 51 points, and turns 20 on Jan. 22. Newhook is tied with Ty Westgard of the Surrey Eagles. Westgard is 19.
