The Mount Pearl Blades got four goals from Colin O’Neill and shutout goaltending from Mitch Rogers as they blanked the Trinity-Placentia Flyers 8-0 in Mary Brown’s St. John’s Junior Hockey League play in Whitbourne Sunday afternoon.

Jack Keough, with two, James O’Brien and Grant Thompson, had the other goals for the Blades,

Rogers, who had 20 saves, was named Jungle Jim’s player of the game for the Blades, while forward William Hickey earned the honours for the Flyers.

On Saturday, the CBR Renegades downed the St. John’s Caps 5-3 at Twin Rinks, while Chris Smith made 45 saves and Eric Hutchings had a pair of goals as the Avalon Capitals whitewashed the Southern Shore Breakers 6-0 at Goulds Arena.

It made for a 1-1 weekend for the Breakers, who got an overtime winner from Noah Dinn as they edged the Northeast Eagles 4-3 at Mobile Friday night.
