Ray Bourque, among the very best to ever play the game, headlines the second annual Legends of Hockey Pro-Am scheduled for Sept. 21-23 at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.
The Pro-Am, which is being held in support of Easter Seals, offers local hockey players an opportunity to skate with ex-NHLers.
Currently, nine teams are confirmed — including a women’s squad — and the hope is to attract a 10th squad.
In addition to Bourque, other celebrity captains of the teams are Chris Nilan, John LeClair, Chris Kostopolous, Ron Duguay, Dennis Maruk, Bob Sweeney and Colin White.
Canadian women’s Olympian Natalie Spooner will captain the women’s team.
Players wishing to play can enter online and pay a $100 fee. After that, players are responsible for raising a minimum of $750.
Easter Seals have a ticket raffle with the top prize being a trip for two to Boston, tickets to a Bruins game and dinner at Bourque’s restaurant in the North End.
If they wish, players can sell these tickets, with 100 per cent of what you sell going towards the $750 fundraising goal.
The event opens with a Draft Party Friday, Sept. 21. Games are set for Saturday and Sunday, with an all-star game slated for Sunday featuring the Legends vs team captains and the top fundraisers.
Each player in the event will receive jerseys, socks and pant shells.
