The Assante Wealth Management CBR Renegades junior hockey team will be honouring former national women’s team player Sarah Davis prior to a St. John’s Junior Hockey League game Saturday night at the C.B.S. Arena.
Davis, from Paradise, played U.S. Division One college hockey at the University of Minnesota, where she won a pair of NCAA national championships whilst earning WCHA conference all-star honours.
She joined the Canadian national team women’s program in 2015, winning three silver medals at the IIHF world women's championship and three silvers at the 4 Nations Cup.
The second-place Renegades, who are playing host to third-place C.B.N. Stars Saturday night, will be presenting a Renegades jersey to Davis. She will then drop the puck to start the game at 7 p.m.
Davis is the sixth person to be named an honorary Renegade, joining former hockey and softball star Ford Metcalfe, community sponsor Scott Parsons, Hockey Night in Canada Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Cole, former CBR minor hockey president and longtime volunteer Marg Noftle, and former stadium manager, volunteer, councillor and hockey mom Sandra Baggs.
