Stacey Hanlon made her return to Atlantic University Sport women’s soccer a successful one over the weekend with a performance that netted the Memorial University Sea-Hawks’ forward Subway AUS female athlete of the week honours.
Hanlon had a goal and three assists in two weekend wins — by 6-0 and 5-1 scores — in season-opening games against the Saint Mary’s Huskies at King George V Park in St. John’s.
A fourth-year recreation student from Portugal Cove, Hanlon is back with the Sea-Hawks’ program after taking a one-year hiatus.
Hanlon was also named the Sea-Hawks’ female athlete of the week, while the school’s male honours also went to a fourth-year forward back after a one-year break.
That would be Kyle Williams, who scored one of Memorial’s on an impressive header in a 4-3 loss to Saint Mary’s Saturday in the opening game of the 2019 schedule at KGV.
