Craig Anderson wasn’t asked about being dealt by the Ottawa Senators at the trade deadline in February.
And, if he had been, it didn’t sound like the veteran goaltender would have wanted to leave anyway.
“That was never presented to me so I could never say ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to that,” Anderson said on a conference call Friday from his home in Florida. “Where we were at, I was having a great time, we had a great bunch of guys, I enjoyed being at the rink every day, my attitude and my mentality of being there on a daily basis was probably one of the best its ever been in my career just based on the guys we had.
“Between, Pierre Groulx every day, (Brady) Tkachuk, (Thomas) Chabot, just to name a few, it really made it enjoyable to come to the rink. It was never presented to me that, ‘Hey, we’ve got an opportunity to move you’ so it never even crossed my mind.”
Anderson said if he doesn play next season he’s not going to be picky and choosy about where he lands.
“We’ll cross that bridge. We’ll see what materializes,” he said. “I’m at a point now where I’ve got different situations to look at between family and kid’s activities. I’ve got some professional goals that I’m still trying achieve and if the right situation arises I definitely want to consider it. and pursue it.”
His only wish is that the organization had been able to win a title while he was here.
“We all wanted to do more,” Anderson said. “It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to put together a team that won the Cup. We had a couple of good runs and a couple of good teams where we felt we could have done something and it just didn’t work out.
“But, over the course of 10 years, for what we were supposed to be doing with a rebuild, not a rebuild, a rebuild, we did a heck of a lot.”
