The Mary Brown’s St. John’s Junior Hockey League held its awards presentation Wednesday night at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay.
Michael Broders of the Mark’s Mount Pearl Junior Blades was the league’s MVP and scoring leader, while CBR Assante Financial Management Renagades goaltender Jordan Blackwood was named the playoffs MVP.
The league will stage its annual general meeting June 15, and a couple of hot button topics of discussion will be a new team proposal from the Paradise Warriors, and implementing full face shields starting next season.
The league will celebrate its 40th anniversary next season.
The 2018-19 award winners are:

Justin Barney Goodland Award (top defenceman) — James O’Brien (Mark’s Mount Pearl Blades)
Kirkland/Balsam Trophy (top goaltender) — Josh Langmead (Northeast Eagles)
Gary “Squid” Connolly Memorial Trophy (rookie of the year) — Jack Keough (Mark’s Mount Pearl Blades)
Clyde Green Memorial Trophy (most gentlemanly and effective player) — Ryan Dawson (C.B.N. MoorFrost Stars)
Bill’s Cycle and Sports Trophy (most underrated player) — Tyler Nickson (CBR Assante Financial Management Renegades)
Bill Strickland Trophy (most improved player) — Tyler Wall (CBR Assante Financial Management Renegades)
Car Fix Trophy (most dedicated and committed player) — (tie) Shayne Kavanagh (Southern Shore Breakers) and Grant Thompson (Mark’s Mount Pearl Blades)
Danny Campbellton Trophy (coach of the year) — Adam Collins (Mark’s Mount Pearl Blades)
Geoffrey C. Carnell Sr. Memorial Trophy (team goaltending average) — Mitch Rogers and Tyson Savoury (Mark’s Mount Pearl Blades)
