Two former members of the American Hockey League’s St. John’s IceCaps have been named to Canada’s 25-player roster for the annual Spengler Cup tournament in Davos, Switzerland.

Forward Aaron Gagnon, who played for the IceCaps when they were affiliated with the Winnipeg Jets, is one of 13 players playing this season with teams in the NLA, the top Swiss professional league. Goaltender Zach Fucale, who was in St. John’s when the IceCaps were the fam team of the Montreal Canadiens, is the only player on Canada’s roster who comes from a team in ECHL. Fucale plays for the Fort Wayne Komets.

Three-time defending Spengler Cup champion Canada, which will be coached by Kevin Dineen, will open the tournament against host HC Davos on Dec. 26.
