St. John’s native Tyler Boland has been named the latest Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week.

A second-year-forward for the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds, the top-ranked men’s hockey team in the country, Boland had four points in a pair of weekend road wins for He had two goals and an assist Friday in Halifax as Reds defeated the No. 6-ranked Saint Mary’s Huskies 7-4 and assisted on the game-winning tally the following night in a 5-1 win over the Acadia Axemen in Wolfville, N.S.

Boland, who played with Rimouski of the QMJHL before entering the university ranks, enters the Christmas break second in AUS scoring with 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points in 18 games. The Reds begin the break on top of the conference standings in first place with a 15-0-3 record. They are the only team in the country without a loss in regulation play this season.
