The Holy Spirit Falcons have successfully defended their title in the Annie Parsons Shield, the annual girls’ high school hockey tourney held in conjunction with the Conception Bay South Winterfest.
The Falcons edge their C.B.S. rivals, the Queen Elizabeth Pioneers 3-2 Wednesday night to take the best-of-three series in two games.
It was one of two high school games played Wednesday at the C.B.S. Arena, The other saw the Falcons double the Pioneers 4-2 to tie the Fred Squires Shield boys’ competition at a game apiece. Queen Elizabeth is defending champ in that one.
A third and deciding game in the series will be played at 8 o’clock tonight at the C.B.S. Arena.
There is a third school tourney conducted as part of Winterfest. That’s the Akita Equipment Shield junior high tourney between the defending champion Villanova Vipers and Frank Roberts Ravens. That series is tied 1-1, with Game 3 at 8 p.m. Friday.
