The Chayee Bourras Selects and defending champion Lafontaine Club are both 2-0 entering an 8 p.m. showdown tonight with the winner advancing to the final of the 21st annual Swing into Summer St. John’s intermediate softball tournament.
Organizers only managed to get one game in Sunday before the rains came, making Lions Park unplayable.
In that game, Eric Healey fanned 10 batters as that C.B.C. Junior Canadians trimmed C.B.S. Storm 4-1.
While the winner of the Chayee Bourras-Lafontaine Club game tonight moves on, the loser gets a second chance to advance to the final with a semifinal matchup against the winner of a game between the Junior Canadians and Sportscraft Waterford Valley.
That game is slated for 6 p.m. this evening at Lions Park.
The Junior Canadians and Waterford Valley are both 2-1. The Storm, Roebothan McKay Marshall Republic and Sable Building & Design are out of the playoff picture at 0-2.
In Sunday’s game, Peter Kavanagh had a pair of hits off losing pitcher Tyler McDonald. Paul Smith Jr. and Tyler McDonald both had two hits in a losing cause.
