It's quickly becoming a lost season for Memorial University varsity soccer.
While the Sea-Hawks women’s team were expected to hurt a little this season after losing a number of star players to graduation, they weren’t figuring to be languishing through a 3-3-4 2018 campaign.
Memorial is in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in six years.
Over the weekend in New Brunswick, the Sea-Hawks lost 2-1 to the University of New Brunswick Saturday (Teri Murphy had the Memorial goal) before playing to a scoreless draw with 1-9-1 Moncton Sunday.
The Sea-Hawks’ problem is they can’t score goals. Memorial has only five goals in 10 games. By comparison, first-place Acadia has 28 goals and second-place Cape Breton has 34.
The Sea-Hawks’ men’s team were shut out on the weekend, losing 3-0 to Moncton Sunday and 6-0 to UNB Saturday.
Memorial falls to 1-6-3.
