The province’s top male junior soccer player from a couple of years ago will be joining the Memorial Sea-Hawks this fall.
Burin Peninsula standout Brent Hennebury has committed to coach Jake Stanford’s men’s team for the 2018-19 AUS season.
“Brent will add skill and speed to our front line and will be a welcome addition to the program for many years to come,” said Stanford in a release from the school’s athletic department.
Hennebury is a six-foot forward from Holy Name of Mary Academy and a product of the provincial age-group programs, from the under-12 division on up. A member of the 2017 Newfoundland and Labrador Canada Games program, he also plays with the St. Lawrence Laurentians of the provincial Challenge Cup men’s league.
“I feel I can bring a high level of play to the team and aid in the continued success of the program. The strengths of my game are my speed and flair, which I hope to put on display next season,” said Hennebury, the 2016 Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association junior player of the year, in the release.
