Memorial Sea-Hawks goalkeeper Sydney Walsh has made it three-for-three in Atlantic University Sport all-star selections.

The St. John’s native and product of Waterford Valley High School was named an AUS first-team all-star selection Wednesday on the eve of the conference championships, beginning today in Sydney, N.S.

This is the second straight first-team nod for Walsh, who played every game for Memorial this season. She was a second-team selection in 2017, her rookie year. The Lady Hawks are taking on the St. FX X-Women in a quarter-final game this afternoon.

Walsh finished in the top five in nearly every statistical category, posting a 0.87 goals-against average and 881 save percentage, while averaging more than six saves per contest. She registered shutouts in five of her 12 starts.

Her Sea-Hawks’ teammate, Nicole Torraville, made the second all-star team as a midfielder after scoring five goals this season, tying her with Holly O’Neil for the team lead.

It’s the first-ever AUS all-star selection for Torraville, in her fourth year out of Gonzaga High School in St. John’s, but not the first time she has earned AUS annual honours; she was the conference rookie of the year in 2016.

On the men’s side, a pair of Memorial Sea-Hawks defenders were named all-stars.

Harry Carter, a second-year Sea-Hawk from St. John’s, and Michael O’Brien, a third-year player from Mount Pearl, were both chosen to the second team.

The Memorial men are not participating in the championships in Sydney as they finished seventh in the regular season, one spot out of playoff positioning.
