Brandon Bussey scored on the power play with just seven seconds left in the game to give The Bigs Northeast Eagles a 6-5 win over the Conception Bay Blues Tuesday night, tying their best-of-five first-round ECSHL playoff series at a game apiece.

At the C.B.S. Arena, Bussey scored a half minute after the Blues’ Sebastian Cormier had been sent off for slashing.

The goal was Bussey’s second of the game. John-Charles Snow also tallied twice for the Eagles, who got singletons from Kory Waterman and Liam Myers. Tyler Adams, Lucas Lush, Lee Dower, Kris Hodge and Kyle Tibbo replied for the Blues.

The series will resume Friday night at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay, where the Blues had won the opening game of the series 6-5 in overtime.

The other first-round elimination series, between the Clarenville Ford Caribous and Harbour Grace Ocean Enterprise CeeBee Stars also continues Friday, with Game 3 at the Danny Cleary Community Centre in Harbour Grace. The Caribous lead 2-0.

The winners of the elimination rounds advance to the semifinals, where they will meet the defending Southern Shore Puglisevich Breakers and St. John’s Caps. The Caps and Breakers finished 1-2 in the league standings to earn first-round byes.
