Feguson the last-minute hero as Growlers edge Walleye in Kelly Cup rematch

He scores twice, one coming with 39 seconds left in the game, in 4-3 victory at Mile One

Brady Ferguson had two goals, including a last-minute game-winner, as the Newfoundland Growlers edged the Toledo Walleye 4-3 Friday night at Mile One Centre in a rematch of the latest ECHL Kelly Cup finalists.

Feguson's second tally of teh night and seventh of the season came with 39 seconds remaining in teh third period,

The final score was the same as when the two teams had met at Mile One in early June, when the Growlers won Game 6 of the championship series to take the league title.

On Friday before just 3,000 fans, Zach O’Brien had a goal and an assist and defenceman Tommy Panico scored his first professional goal for Newfoundland (8-5-1) in a game in which neither team led by more than one goal.

Justin Buzzeo, Abbott Girduckis and Michael Moffatt replied for Toledo (7-4-1).

The teams face off again tonight (7 p.m.) at Mile One.
