Brady Ferguson, the Newfoundland Growlers’ leading scorer this season, is the team’s MVP.

The Growlers are announcing year-end awards via social media, with the latest winner being Ferguson, who was named the Johnson Insurance MVP Thursday night.

The 25-year-old from Lewisville, Texas, led the team in scoring with 24 goals and 63 points in 57 games this season. He was fifth overall in ECHL scoring.

Ferguson played four years at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh before signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs’ organization as an undrafted free agent in 2018.

Thunder Bay, Ont. native Todd Skirving won two team awards. Friday, Skirving was named the Equinor Fan’s Choice Award winner after taking home the Equinor Community Player of the Year award earlier this week.

Skirving, a 28-year-old forward, had four goals and 12 points in 37 games this season. He’s a veteran of the ECHL, having played in Orlando, Utah and Atlanta. He played junior hockey in the BCHL with Vernon and Prince George, and in the USHL with Sioux Falls, S.D.

He played U.S. college hockey with Rochester Institute of Technology, which plays in the NCAA Division I Atlantic Hockey Association, a hockey-only conference.
