Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador will stage its 2020 sectional figure skating championship Friday and Saturday at The Glacier in Mount Pearl.
Sectionals are the first step in a process leading to the national championship Jan. 13-19 in Mississauga, Ont.
The sectional championship identifies the top skaters in the province for advancement to the next round of qualifying events, the Skate Canada Challenge Nov. 27–Dec. 3 in Edmonton.
Skating gets under way 1:30 p.m. Friday, and winds up at 6 p.m. Saturday’s session at The Glacier goes from noon-5:30 p.m.
The Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador section has a membership in the 5,000 range, with more than 30 member clubs and schools located from St. John’s to Labrador City.
