The ice at Mile One Centre was the final dance floor for Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir Saturday night.
Virtue and Moir, who are retiring after have been on-ice partners for 22 years, were in St. John's as part of the xross-country Rock the Rink figure skating tour, which made Mile One its final stop.
The pair, who won eight Canadian senior ice dance championships, three world championships and two Olympic gold medals during their time ogether, announced they were “stepping away” from the sport in September.
Joining Virtue and Moir on the ice at Mile One was a star-studded group of skaters that included two other Canadian, world and Olympic gold-medallists — Marystown native Kaetlyn Osmond and Patrick Chan.
The 23-year-old Osmond (she turns 24 on Dec, 5) is a three-time Canadian women’s champion, 2018 Olympic gold-medallist and 2018 world women’s champio. She had revealed her retirement from competitive skating earlier this year.
