Tickets go on sale today for September get-together with former UFC champ

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Tickets go on sale today for a question and answer session with retired mixed martial artist and UFC world champion Georges St-Pierre set for the Delta Hotel in St. John’s Sept. 8.

One of the most recognizable faces in UFC, the hugely-popular St-Pierre became the UFC welterweight champion in 2006. He lost the title the following year, but regained it in 2008.

St-Pierre retired from the sport in 2013, holding the UFC record for most wins in title bouts, but returned to the octagon after a four-year layoff.

The 38-year-old from Montreal retired for good in February of this year.

St-Pierre had 26 wins, eight by knockout, was a two-time world welterweight champion, including nine consecutive successful title defences from 2008 to 2013. He also held the UFC world middleweight championship.

St-Pierre is expected to talk about his career as a UFC fighter, and his days growing up bullied by older kids at school.

St-Pierre will also provide the audience an opportunity to ask questions.

Tickets are $40 each, plus surcharge, with VIP tickets going for $70, plus surcharge. The VIP ticket will provide fans with an opportunity for a meet and greet with St-Pierre, plus a photo.
