ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — He’s 93, but Jack Janes showed he still has some innings remaining in the left arm during a recent Holy Cross alumni baseball game at St. Pat’s Ball Park. A few former Crusaders got together for a catch at St. Pat’s following the fifth and deciding game of the St. John’s Molson Senior Baseball League final earlier this month.

Shamrocks won their fifth straight championship, beating Holy Cross in the deciding game of a five-game final. Sean Janes is a veteran Crusaders’ pitcher, and his brother, Mike, also pitched for Holy Cross.

Jack Janes, their great uncle, and his brother, Diego, played on the 1947 Holy Cross championship team.

With the passing of Gordon Breen this summer, only Jack Janes remains from that squad.
