Forward leads St. John’s in scoring, entire league in rebounding

St. John’s Edge forward Karrington Ward is the latest National Basketball League of Canada player of the week. 

Ward, 6-foot-seven forward from Eastern Michigan University led the Edge to a pair of home-court wins over the KW Titans last week at Mile One Centre, extending St. John’s winning streak to four games.

The 26-year-old Ward averaged 19 points and eight rebounds in the two victories and was particularly effective from three-point range, hitting 54 per cent of his shots (14 for 26) from long distance

Ward leads St. John’s in both scoring (19 points per game) and rebounds (9.7 per contest). The latter is the best in the entire league.

The next game for the Edge (4-4) is Tuesday, when they host the Sudbury Five in the first of back-to-back games at Mile One.
