The Sea-Hawks and host St. Francis Xavier X-Women battled to a 2-2 tie, improving Memorial to 4-3-3 on the year. Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Sea-Hawks are locked in the sixth and final playoff spot with 15 points, six ahead of the UPEI Panthers.

As for Memorial’s men’s squad, it lost both weekend affairs, falling 1-0 to the Cape Breton Capers on a late goal Saturday in Sydney, N.S., and 2-0 to the St. FX X-Men at Antigonish on Sunday.

The men, who have two regular-season games remaining, against the Dalhousie Tigers next weekend in St. John’s, sit just outside of a playoff spot in the AUS. They are in seventh place in the conference standings at 3-5-2. UPEI holds sixth place and what would be the final playoff berth at 4-5-2.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams both competed in tournaments in Ontario over the weekend. The men played in the Tindall Invitational hosted by Queen’s University, and the women in Thunder Bay, Ont. at the Lakehead Tournament.

In Kingston, Ont., the men’s Sea-Hawks team was coming off tournament win at the Concordia Classic last weekend in Montreal. At Queen’s, however, Memorial went 0-3 following 80-72 (in overtime), 93-60 and 78-74 losses to Queen’s, Ottawa and Regina.
