Lafontaine looks for a little revenge in St. John's intermediate fastpitch play this evening

League leaders from Placentia take on C.B.C, who beat them in provincial final last weekend

Lafontaine Club will look to make it consecutive wins over Conception Bay opponents when it takes its league-leading record for a Molson St. John’s intermediate fastpitch game tonight at Lions Park.

Placentia-based Lafontaine (13-1) will take on the Conception Bay Central Junior Canadians at 8 p.m. in one of two games on the intermediate league schedule. Lafontaine downed the Conception Bay South Storm 6-1 Wednesday behind the two-hit pitching of Nick Pittman (1W, 14K) and home run from Andrew Kelly.

Tonight’s match against the Junior Canadians (4-10) comes just five days after C.B.C. blanked Lafontaine 2-0 in the final of the provincial intermediate championship.

Today’s other contest, with a 6 p.m., start, has the provincial under-19 team taking on the Roebothan McKay Marshall Republic (6-7). Like Lafontaine, the U19s (9-7) are coming off a victory on Wednesday, when they downed Sportscraft Waterford Valley 3-1.

Another Pittman — this time, Marcus Pittman (5H, 2W, 9K) — pitched the win, getting the decision over Waterford Valley’s Jeremy Hickey (7H, 4W, 10K).

Logan Power scored twice for the winners.
