Buddy the Puffin cleaned out his nest to make a little history on Wednesday in St. John’s.

The ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers popular mascot was at The Rooms to help unveil an exhibit celebrating his 27-year history as the avian representative for the Growlers and NBL Canada’s St. John’s Edge, as well as the St. John’s Maple Leafs and St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League.

The “Three Cheers for Buddy the Puffin!” pop-up exhibit, located in the Rooms’ third-level atrium, will be on display until Jan. 12.

The exhibit consists of memorabilia collected by Buddy over the years, everything from jerseys to ugly sticks and pop cans.

There will be another highlight for Buddy next Tuesday night when the Growlers host the Adirondack Thunder at Mile One Centre. The game will feature Buddy-themed stories, the launch of a Buddy the Puffin inspired clothing line and the official presentation of his Kelly Cup championship ring.
