Two days after a long-term lease agreement was signed with Mile One Centre, solidifying its future in St. John’s, the National Basketball League of Canada’s St. John’s Edge officially named Steve Marcus its head coach.

In the difficult position of taking over from Doug Plumb with two games remaining in the 2018-19 regular season, Marcus piloted the Edge to their first NBLC Finals appearance in franchise history.

Prior to taking over the top job, the Springfield, Mass. native was an associate head coach in St. John’s since its inaugural season.

“I am beyond excited to be back in St. John’s and lead the St. John’s Edge,” said Marcus. “St. John’s has become home for me these last few years and I am looking forward to putting together a championship level roster not only on the court but also off the court and in the community.”

Prior to landing in St. John’s, Marcus served on Mark Gottfried’s staff at North Carolina State University and was head coach of the NBA D-League’s Maine Red Claws.
