Newfoundland and Labrador struggles in U17 and U15 hoops

The under-15 boys’ team had the best record of any Newfoundland and Labrador basketball team at the boys and girls under17 and U15 basketball nationals which finished up Sunday.

In Frederiction, N.B., where the boys’ nationals were played, the U15s were 2-4. Cameron Stanford of St. John’s led the tournament with 16 rebounds per game.

The U17 boys’ team struggled to a 1-4 record. Matthew Pennell of St. John’s had a tournament-high 7.8 assists per game.

The U17 and U15 girls’ tournaments were played in Victoria, B.C. The U17 squad was 1-5. Caroline Jardine of St. John’s led all defenders with 5.7 defensive rebounds per game. In the U15 tournament, Newfoundland was 1-4.
