Newfoundlander helping Canada reach for ultimate supremacy

Newfoundlander Luke Dyer is part of Canada's team which has won nine straiht games at the world ultimate men’s under-24 championship at Heidelberg, Germany this week.

That victory includes a 15-14 decision over Colombia in quarter-final play on Thursday, a result that puts Canada up against Japan in semifinal action today.

Dyer, who is from Logy Bay, was captain of the Memorial University’s ultimate team, is youth development co-ordinator with Ultimate NL’s junior Storm program, plays for Nighthawks in the local Mile Zero League and is a two-time recipient of the Premier’s Athletic Award. He made the Canadian world U24 team after attending a tryout camp in Ottawa earlier this year.
